Hale Mahana Apartments: Ultimate Convenience in UH-Manoa Student Housing
The newly constructed Hale Mahana Apartments, conveniently located on 2615 South King St. in Moiliili, offer a contemporary, smart and easy lifestyle for undergraduate and graduate students.
I had the pleasure of meeting with Courtney Cohea, Sales Support Specialist for Tennessee-based EdR Collegiate Housing, who graciously gave me a personal tour of Hale Mahana last week. Cohea and her team had been diligently working around the clock to prepare for the more than 300 students who moved in August 14, 2018.
Just minutes from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and Chaminade University, plus dozens of eateries, markets, boutiques and much more, this brand-new 14-story building has 191 units with five different floor plans--ranging from studios to four-bedroom units.
Ready for student life at UH-Manoa
These apartments are equipped for student life at UH-Manoa, with Internet, cable, electric and trash included in the rent. Washers and dryers are located on each floor. Parking stalls are available for $100/month, and motor bike stalls are available for $50/month. Hourly guest parking stalls are also available, as is a smart modern bike storage area. Bike racks are available on a first-come, first-served basis, but there are plenty of racks to store your bike.
Student housing with space to work and play
My favorite feature of the building? The recreational deck on the 14th floor. Hale Mahana's gym has large windows that overlook the mountains. What an inspirational way to start your morning and set you up for success!
The 14th floor also has another area with a view of Diamond Head, the city skyline and Punchbowl. When you're ready for a study break, there are BBQ grills and lounge areas to unwind and enjoy with friends and family. When it's time to hit the books, there's unlimited access to private work stations, and a computer room with Apple computers and complimentary printing.
Pets and other perks
Did I mention the building is also pet friendly? Be sure to talk the leasing staff to go over the details of adding a pet to your leasing package. There is an extra fee for registering your pet and a pet maximum requirement per unit.
Hale Mahana also employs Community Assistants to oversee day-to-day operations and coordinate building events. I had the pleasure of meeting Community Assistant Marin Trunkey. Trunkey radiated excitement as she described all the fun ideas she has in store for future events, mentioned putting together a Luau event for the building.
As my tour came to an end, I was delighted to learn about Hale Mahana and what they offer for off-campus housing for students in Hawaii! The staff is very pleasant and easy going, too. For more information, visit the Hale Mahana website at halemahana.com or stop by Hale Mahana to take a tour with one of the leasing staff members.
Finally, if you're the parent of a college student on Oahu who is interested in purchasing a condo or home for your student while they're attending college, I'd be happy to assist you in your search. While Hale Mahana is a rental-only building, there are many other for-sale housing options in the area. After your student graduates, you could continue to rent the unit to other students, or use a 1031 Exchange to trade up to another investment property in Hawaii or on the Mainland.
