The Commodore Waikiki

I tell my friends–and my clients–that the Commodore Waikiki truly is a hidden gem. They

take my word for it, too, because they know that not only am I on the Locations Project

team for the building, I’m also a resident and a member of the condominium board!

That’s right, I’ve lived in the Commodore Waikiki for more than two years, so I can vouch

for its can’t-be-beat location, Instagram-worthy vintage appeal and–most important–its

awesome value.


The building was originally constructed in 1947 by the Army Corps of Engineers to house

U.S. Naval Officers, so the quality of its construction is top notch, and the concrete walls

make the units virtually soundproof. Millions of dollars were poured into upgrading the

entire 43-unit building, including new flooring, cabinetry, appliances, fixtures, lighting and

ceiling fans, as well as contemporary paint colors.


Situated along the Ala Wai Canal, I consider the view from my lanai to be my own private

urban oasis. It’s so quiet and green that I never feel as if I’m in town. Yet, I’m just minutes

from Ala Moana Beach, and plenty of shopping, dining and nightlife options.

The ample street parking and cooling trade winds are a bonus that really make the

Commodore Waikiki a smart choice for homeowners (like myself) and investors alike.


Oh, and did I mention that even though the building is gated AND pet friendly with a

tropical garden-like setting and on-site laundry room, the maintenance fees are

unbelievably low at just $256 a month?


And speaking of great value, the average price per square foot in the Commodore Waikiki

is a considerably better value when compared to the overall average price per square foot

in the Ala Moana neighborhood.
